3-Day Romantic Wilderness & Plantation Escape
Starting From
Start early from Kochi between 06:30 AM and 07:00 AM to ensure a smooth, relaxed drive through the rainforest and arrive in time for lunch. Take the Chalakudy – Anamudi Highway ( SH21 ).
• Direct Scenic Drive: Drive straight through the rainforest belt without stopping at Athirappilly or Vazhachal waterfalls.
• Pass through the forest checkpost into the deep jungle canopy stretch, enjoying views of dense tropical greenery and mountain reservoirs along the route.
Arrive directly at Sinna Dorai’s Upper Paralai Bungalow in Valparai by 01:00 PM – 01:30 PM.
• Lunch: Savor a freshly prepared colonial estate-style lunch served in the heritage bungalow dining room upon arrival.
• Property Leisure: Settle into your room in this restored 1920s planter’s residence surrounded by rolling tea gardens.
• Take a leisurely walk along private tea estate trails with the resident naturalist or unwind on the sprawling veranda with freshly brewed tea.
• Overnight Stay: Sinna Dorai’s Upper Paralai Bungalow, Valparia. ( note rooms will not have TV & NO room service will be available as it’s a nature friendly resort)
Wake up to misty tea garden views and enjoy a home-cooked plantation breakfast.
• Check out by 09:00 AM and descend via the famous 40 Hairpin Bends towards Pollachi, enjoying sweeping vistas of the Aliyar basin.
• Proceed towards Sethumadai to reach the entry point for Parambikulam Tiger Reserve.
Reach the Anappady Forest Check Post / Booking Office by 12:00 PM.
• Check-in: Settle into your swiss-style Canvas Tent at Tented Niche, complete with attached amenities and a private forest-facing sit-out. Kindly note it being a government stay inside deep forest , the amenities are very basic for this stay/ Pls carry torches and mosquito repellents for this stay
• Lunch: Enjoy a hot buffet lunch served at Bhojanasaalaa dining hall at 01:00 PM.
• Jungle Safari: At 02:30 PM, board the eco-tourism safari bus for a 2.5-hour guided safari deep into the reserve core. Look out for gaurs, spotted deer, Malabar giant squirrels, and endemic birds.
• Cultural Performance: At 06:00 PM, witness the traditional Tribal Dance Performance (Tribal Symphony) presented by local Kadar and Malasar tribal artists.
Dinner: Savor a buffet dinner in the wilderness campus at 07:30 PM.
• Bird Watching Trail: Begin at 07:00 AM with a guided forest walk led by a local tribal naturalist.
• Breakfast: Return to the campsite for breakfast at 08:30 AM.
• Bamboo Rafting: Experience traditional bamboo rafting on the reservoir at 09:30 AM, gliding quietly across serene waters.
• Complete check-out formalities by 10:30 AM – 11:00 AM.
• Drive back to Kochi via Pollachi – Palakkad – Thrissur ( NH544 , approx. 165 km / 4.5 – 5 hours).
• Stop for lunch along the highway near Vadakkencherry or Thrissur.
• Arrive back in Kochi by late evening (06:00 PM – 07:00 PM).
• Punctual Departure: Leaving Kochi by 06:00 AM on Day 1 is critical to passing the forest entry gate smoothly and arriving at Sinna Dorai's in time for lunch.
• Attire: Pack light woolens/jackets for Valparai's cool evenings, and neutral earth-toned clothing for the Parambikulam safari.
• Climate : It being rainy season , please ensure that you carry umbrellas and raincoats for the same
• Foot wear : Please wear good quality shoes as needed , being hilly and forest terrain ( pls protective for leeches in the forest area).
